The Association of Consulting Engineering Companies-Manitoba (ACEC-MB) has presented Hatch with an Award of Excellence for its work on the Keeyask Generating Station planning studies in northern Manitoba, Canada.
The award recognised Hatch's long-term involvement in the project. In 1999, Manitoba Hydro engaged Hatch to undertake hydroelectric planning studies for the proposed 695MW generating station located on the Nelson River approximately 730km north of Winnipeg. Before proceeding with the final design and construction, preliminary designs needed to be developed to a level of detail sufficient to enable thorough assessment of potential effects on the environment and nearby communities.
Between 1999 and 2013, Hatch teamed with Manitoba Hydro and its partner First Nations to prepare preliminary designs for the Keeyask Generating Station to a FEL3 level of detail.
In June 2013 Hatch was awarded the FEL4 engineering services for the Keeyask Generating Station, following a competitive bidding process.
