Heavy duty operation

16 July 2001

Vehicle designer Multidrive of the UK has announced the launch of the M8-35, a heavy-duty articulated dump truck developed to reduce operating costs while increasing operational flexibility.

A 339kW Caterpillar 3406E diesel engine drives the M8-35 through an Allison HD4560 two-range six-speed automatic transmission, working in conjunction with a two speed drop box to four axles. This configuration is claimed to reduce axle loads, increase the spread of traction, and produce at 56t GVW a governed road speed of 55mph. The M8-35’s multi load ejector body has been developed to deal with high or low density materials with abrasive, or rocky characteristics.
