Hedcor provides update on Philippines hydro

Renewable energy developer Hedcor, a subsidiary of AboitizPower has provided an update on the construction of two hydropower plants in the Philippines.

The firm said that, to date, it has completed 42% of construction for the Manolo Fortich Hydro 1 and 21% for Manolo Fortich Hydro 2.

Located in the island of Mindanao, work is currently focused on the additional excavation for the projects headpond to prevent erosion of the side slope, and drilling works for the 6-km tunnel to be used for a portion of water diversion. A 5km pipeline has been laid for a 14km target, while the opening of the access road is nearing completion with 28km already accessible out of 30km.

The foundation for the weir and desander were continuously concreted to meet the target groundworks, said the firm.
