According to the survey, conducted by Chile's El Mercurio newspaper, energy experts rated renewable energy sources and found mini hydroelectric stations are cheap, clean and small-scale with abundant suitable sites in the country's Lakes District.
Mini-hydro could contribute an estimated 15% of the country's electricity by 2020.
