Hydro plant part of GHDs Chinese project

4 January 2005

The proposed Xiaogushan hydro power station is a run-of-river plant that will provide electricity for the Zhangye City and its surrounding areas. The clean energy programme is part of the Chinese government’s enhanced environmental legislation.

The scheme is one of two projects that GHD is set to undertake in China. The other sees it develop a national flood management strategy for the Asian Development Bank, to help deal with the nation’s severe flooding problem.

This project has been developed to lay a theoretical foundation for flood management, renew water management concepts, provide options of flood management and formulate development strategies and action plans.
