Hydro-Quebec International and SNC Lavalin go down under

16 April 2001

Hydro-Quebec International and SNC Lavalin of Canada have announced that they are undertaking the Murraylink project in Australia. The scheme involves building a 180km interconnection linking the grids of Victoria and South Australia, along with two converter stations. Hydro-Quebec and SNC Lavalin each have a 50% equity interest in the project.

SNC Lavalin and TransEnergie, Hydro-Quebec's transmission division, will oversee project construction. ABB Transmission and Distribution has been awarded a turnkey contract for project construction and will also supply the necessary technology.
