Hydro Tasmania sees hydrology improve after drought years

2 September 2009

The utility said the Winter period saw record rainfall, and in August the inflows to reservoirs were 60% more than predicted which boosted storage by nine percentage points more than expected.

Over the full year inflows to reservoirs were 25% more than predicted.

Reservoir storage finished the Winter at 43% – almost twice the volume at the same time last year.

The storage volumes of Lake Gordon and Great Lake are 32.5% and 33.7%, respectively – again, almost twice the levels (slightly over 18%) at the same time last year.
