India and Bhutan in hydro deal

23 December 2009

Agreements on the four projects to be located in Bhutan – the 620MW Amochhu reservoir, the 1800MW Kuri Gongri, 670MW Chamkharchhu-I and 486MW Kholongchhu – were signed following meetings between Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan.

Power generated from the projects will be used by Bhutan, with surplus energy exported to India.
