Iran to complete Sangtuda 1 hydro project

During talks Khatami offered to buy for US$250M the controlling block of shares in the Sangtuda
No 1 hydroelectric facility - Tajikistan's second largest power station. The project to build the 670MW Sangtuda Plant, located on the Vakhsh river 120km from Dushanbe, started in 1989 during the Soviet era but was suspended with the fall of the Soviet Union.
The new plan envisages completion of construction in three years.
