JLEN acquires hydropower facilities

21 September 2020

Environmental infrastructure fund JLEN has acquired two operational hydro projects as part of a £4.74 million acquisition of Northern Hydropower Holdings Limited (NHHL).

The hydropower plants, along with a co-located operational battery storage system, are located in Yorkshire and Cornwall in the UK. They are the 500kW Knottingley hydro project on the River Aire which shares its location with a 1.2MW battery system, and the 99kW De Lank hydro project on the De Lank River. Both hydro projects operate under the 20-year Feed-in-Tariff scheme.

The deal is JLEN’s second investment into hydropower and battery storage, and the addition of the new projects means the firm now has renewable energy assets totalling 304.7MW capacity.
