Key equipment on way to Bui project, Ghana

13 January 2012

The first components to arrive at the Tema Harbour on MV Da Zi Yun in mid-December were the turbine-runner and step-up transformer for the project’s first unit. Other major components and equipment for the remaining two units are expected to follow in the coming months.

In a statement BPA said that the equipment was delivered on time and in accordance with the project schedule. Concreting works on the project’s main dam is now approximately 90% complete, and installation of generation equipment in the powerhouse is to start shortly, and will take about twelve months. If there are no major technical problems, BPA says it expects first power to begin at the project by the end of the year.
