KFW to fund hydro rehab in Mozambique

German development bank Kreditanstalt fur Wiederaufbau (KfW) is to provide $23.5M in funding for renovation work on the 38.4MW Chicamba and 52MW Mavuzi hydroelectric plants in Mozambique, newswires have reported.

Project operator Electricidade de Mozambique (EdM) said the work is needed as the plants have been operating below capacity.

Full rehabilitation work is expected to cost $120M.
