According to the Interfax news agency, the Georgian government is in talks with potential investors to finance the project.

Construction of the Khudoni plant on the Inguri river began in the late 1980s, but was suspended after around US$150M had been spent on completing 25% of the project.

Estimates are that it will cost around US$500M to complete the plant, which has a designed capacity of 700MW. It is expected to produce 1.66BkWh of electricity a year.
