A REQUEST TO CONDUCT excavations in 12 of the 20 archaeological sites found earlier this year in the Central Highland province of Kon Tum, Vietnam has been submitted to the Ministry of Information and Culture by the Institute of Archaeology.
The 20 sites were discovered in an area earmarked for the construction of the Plei Krong hydroelectric power plant in Kon Tum provinces. A meeting jointly held by the institute, the management board for the power plant project and the municipal Service of Information and Culture was told that jars, vases, graves and worship instruments had been uncovered at the sites.
The finds suggested the existence of pre-history agriculture-based populations along the Krong Poko river.
