Kyrgyzstan launches operation of Kambarata-2 plant

31 August 2010

The project – part funded by Russia – is the first hydroelectric scheme to be placed into operation in the country since the collapse of the Soviet Union.

The project, which was initially abandoned in the 1990s and then resurrected three years ago, is the first of several projects planned for development on the Naryn River. Two more units are to be installed at the project.
