Late spring thaw hit Avista hydro

5 November 2008

Earlier this year the snowpack held good prospects for the company following lower output than normal, which placed more need on purchase energy with consequent cost pressure.

Purchased power costs were also higher due to lower temperatures and increased wholesale prices.

Operating income for the entire company jumped 40% to US$25.3M and revenues were up similarly to US$8382.7M.
