The sub-committee has tentatively scheduled an August deadline to release the proposed 25-year plan. It would consider harvesting flood water from the Shoalhaven river and piping it to Warragamba dam, which is now less than 50% full.
The long-term plan for solving Sydney's water supply was fast tracked after dam levels fell to a record low of 46% capacity this year. One option almost certain to be embraced is a relatively straightforward plan to access the ‘dead storage’ water in Warragamba and Avon dams.
