Manitoba Hydro sells 100MW of hydro to SaskPower

22 September 2015

Canadian utility Manitoba Hydro has signed a 20-year deal to sell 100MW of hydroelectric power to fellow utility SaskPower, starting in 2020.

The deal follows a similar earlier agreement signed last year that covers 25MW hydro supply to run from November 2015 to May 2022.

The new deal covers 18% of the power generated by the Keeyask generating station, which is currently under construction in Manitoba. It will require development of a new 80-kilometre transmission line to be built between the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
