Mavel completes commissioning of final three projects in South Korea

Hapcheon site has a nominal head of 5.1m with a nominal flow of 123m3/sec. mavel provided two double regulated Kaplan Pit turbines with a runner diameter of 3400mm and four runner blades. Total installed power here is about 5.53MW. With a nominal net head of 7.1m, Nakdan has a flow of 52m3/sec. The total installed power of the two double regulated Kaplan PIT turbines is about 3.25MW. The 3.3MW Gangjeong project has nominal head of 5.1m, a total nominal flow of 73m3/sec and utilises two double regulated Kaplan Pit turbines with a runner diameter of 2500mm and four runner blades.

The hydro power schemes are part of South Korea’s Four Rivers Project which will ensure regulation of four major rivers and provide the region with a clean energy resource. The projects are owned by the Korea Water Resources Corporation.
