MHI sets target to increase female management

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd (MHI) has announced it has set a target to increase the number of the company's female managers threefold from the current level by 2020.

In a statement, the company said the initiative is being taken in conjunction with it's pursuit of diversity management to further accelerate the company's global expansion and to make the leap to a highly profitable enterprise with a business scale of 5 trillion yen.

Until now, MHI has promoted the active participation of its female employees through measures to support women's attainment of a work environment that is in harmony with their childrearing needs. Examples are the introduction of benefits allowing female employees to take childcare leave and the creation of in-company nursery facilities.

Going forward, as measures to promote the careers of female employees further, the company says it intends to change how women employees are treated companywide, support female network building, promote individual career growth plans, and create an environment in which men and women can all work flexible and work in very diverse way.
