The dam was to have been removed by summer 2003, but logistical delays have pushed back the schedule by a year. Officials first had to find a disposal site for 300,000 cubic yards of silt that had piled up behind the dam.
The 92-year-old dam is being demolished to allow migratory fish to swim upstream to their natural spawning areas.
