Moves to resurrect Dobson project

14 July 2004

The Dobson project near Greymouth was derailed by the government because it would involve flooding conservation land. But South Island mayors, employers and Greypower are calling for that decision to be reversed.

The petition calling on the government to back the NZ$100M (US$65.5M) power project said the advantages Dobson offers far outweighs the 250ha of protected land that it will affect. The scheme would generate enough power to supply 25,000 homes.
