New equipment for Vietnamese plant

9 November 2005

Under the contract, Power Machines will design, manufacture, supply and install two hydro turbines, 105MW each, as well as electrical and auxiliary equipment for the Vung Ang power plant.

The project's principal sponsor is Electricity of Vietnam (EVN), the country's state-controlled energy company. Power Machines won the tender for the construction of the plant as part of a consortium with Japan's Sumitomo Corporation, which signed a turnkey contract for the delivery of equipment for the station's turbine room.

Under the contract, delivery is to be completed by early 2007, with the power plant scheduled to begin operations in late 2007.
