Consulting firm Parsons Brinckerhoff has named Matthew Chan as Assistant Vice President and West Hydropower Operations Manager in its Portland, Oregon office.
In his new role, Dr Chan will support Parsons Brinckerhoff's hydropower and water resource clients in the Western US. Previously Business Development Manager at the company's East Hydropower Group, Dr Chan has 18 years of experience in the industry, including Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licensing.
Prior to joining Parsons Brinckerhoff, he was a Senior Scientist at a national environmental consulting firm, with responsibility for managing and performing river ecology studies.
Dr Chan received a Ph.D. in fisheries science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, an M.B.A. from Franklin Pierce University, an M.S. in biology from the University of Mississippi, and a B.A. from Wittenberg University. He is member of the National Hydropower Association, Association of State Dam Safety Officials, and member and Certified Fisheries Professional with the American Fisheries Society
