New small hydro contract in India

TCE CONSULTING ENGINEERS has won the contract for the 2x1.75MW Mandagere hydro project in Karnatake, India.

The project utilises a 6m drop at the existing Mandagere weir across the Hemavathi river, 120km from Bangalore. Tenders have been issued and bids received for the supply of equipment and civil works. Orders are expected to be placed during November/December 2002.

Site work is to begin in November and project commissioning is scheduled for mid 2004.

The project is being implemented by the Bhoruka Power Corporation, which has already undertaken a number of mini hydro projects in Karnataka (3.6MW Shivapur project, 2.6MW Shahapur, 2MW Rajankollur and the 3MW Madhavamanantri).
