NewPage completes sale of Kimberly facility

6 April 2010

Kaukauna Utilities, a community-owned utility founded in 1912, owns and operates seven additional hydroelectric facilities on the Fox River with a total installed capacity of 23MW.

Sanabe & Associates, LLC, acted as exclusive financial advisor to NewPage in the transaction.

Last month it was announced that Consolidated Water Power Company (CWPCo) – a subsidiary of NewPage Corporation – has signed a letter of intent to sell five hydroelectric projects located along the Wisconsin River in DuBay, Stevens Point, Whiting, Biron and Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, to Great Lakes Utilities (GLU). The five hydroelectric projects have a combined installed capacity of 35.2MW and the price agreed is approximately $2000 per kW of installed capacity.

In March 2009, NewPage Corporation also completed the sale of the 9.1MW Little Quinnesec hydroelectric facility in Niagara, Wisconsin to Northbrook Wisconsin, LLC.
