NHPC awards Kishanganga project to HCC JV

The 330MW project is located in in Jammu & Kashmir, and is to be built on the river Kishanganga, a tributary of the Jhelum.

Construction work involves building a 37m high concrete faced rockfill dam, 23.5km of headrace tunnel and an underground powerhouse. Three generating units (3 x 110MW) are to be installed for the plant, which will work under a maximum gross head of 665m.

The turnkey contract, valued at US$560M, is to be completed in 84 months.

HCC is 98% in control of the JV, its partner being UK-based consultant Halcrow.
