NHPC is looking for a contractor to perform groutability tests to assess the efficacy of grouting in the concrete face rockfill dam (CFRD) plinth area of the project site on the left bank of the river Marusudar, a tributary of the Chenab.

Deadline for bid submissions is 8 September. The works are expected to take five months to complete.

The project is sited near Kishtwar in the Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir province. The dam will be 167m high, built near the village of Dranghuran, and the underground power house will hold four Francis units each of 250MW capacity.

NHPC completed the environmental impact assessment for the project in July and public hearings were conducted. It is expected that Pakal Dul will take six years to build from receipt of government approval for the project.
