NovaGold advances plans for Forrest Kerr scheme

26 February 2008

The project is being developed by the group’s wholly-owned subsidiary NovaGreenPower, which is working with Hatch Energy to have the updated feasibility study completed shortly. The run-of-river scheme is being developed by the group following its acquisition of Coast Mountain Power in 2006.

To be built on the Iskut river, the project could have an installed capacity of 195MW instead of the originally planned 115MW. NovaGold said that the project would have to have environmental approval for the increase in capacity. The project site is 280km north of Prince Rupert.

The mining company said that it created NovaGreenPower to expand its portfolio of renewable energy projects.
