Ontario Govt awards contracts for new energy projects, including hydro

9 April 2010

The contracts – for large scale schemes - have been awarded under Green Energy Act's feed-in tariff program, and are in addition 510 medium-sized projects already announced. In total, the contracts could generate more than 2500MW for the province and will create thousands of new jobs in the growing green energy sector. The developments will need about $9B in private sector investment.

Ontario's Green Energy Act is part of the government's Open Ontario Plan. It provides a stable price for clean energy producers so they will invest in the province, and create up to 50,000 Ontario jobs.
