Pakistani approval for 58MW project

The Pakistani government has given the North Waziristan Agency the go-ahead for a feasibility study, detailed engineering design and tender documents to be drawn up for a multi-purpose dam at Kurram Tangi.

Originally proposed on the basis of a pre-feasibility study conducted in 1992, the project will comprise a 100m high dam and a power house containing three units with a total output of 58MW. There are also plans for a weir at Kaitu.
