US secretary of the interior Gale Norton was joined at the signing ceremony on 13 July by Portland General Electric (PGE) chief executive and president Peggy Fowler, Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs (CTWS) chairman Ronald Suppah and American rivers president Rebecca Wodder.
The ceremony saw 22 agencies agree on measures that will provide benefits for migratory salmon and steelhead in the Deschutes river as well as approve another 50 years of operation at the power plant.
The Pelton Round Butte facility is the only US plant jointly owned by Native Americans, the CTWS and PGE.
