Power Machines completes work at Balimela, Djerdap-2

3 April 2009

The company supplied two 75MW turbines equipped with ball gate valves to the Balimela high-head plant in Orissa state. The rated head for the plant is 274m.

The supply contract with Orissa Hydro Power Corp was signed in 2003 at a value of more than US$30M, the manufacturer said. In addition, Power Machines has supplied auxiliary systems and outdoor switchgear.

Elsewhere in India, Power Machines has a modernisation and upgrade contract at the Loktak plant, which is to be completed later this year. Previously, it supplied four 250MW units to the Teri plant.

Power Machines has completed bench tests of the last governor system for the Djerdap-2 plant. It has already commissioned five of the 10 governor systems it was contracted in 2005 to supply.

The contract value is approximately US$3M. The last of the governor systems is to be commissioned by the end of 2010.
