Poyry wins contract for Rudbar-e-Lorestan, Iran

The company was awarded the Euro 7M (US$9.4M) contract by contractor Sepasad Engineering Co. It is to undertake construction design and support services for the dam and headrace tunnel works. Previously it carried out technical studies for the project.

The Rudbar-e-Lorestan hydro project is to be constructed in the upper reaches of the Dez catchment in the Zagros Mountains.

Key civils works on the project included construction of a 180m high RCC dam, a 3km long headrace tunnel, twin surface penstocks and a surface power house.

The dam is to impound a reservoir of 228Mm3 gross volume and the design gross head to be exploited for hydrop ower, when the water is conveyed by the headrace to the power house on the banks of the river Alkan in an adjacent valley, is 442m.
