Rainpower enters Swedish hydro market

26 November 2010

“Establishing Rainpower in Norway has been very successful, and we feel that the time is right to take a look at the exciting hydropower market in Sweden,” said CEO Svein Ole Strømmen. “KTAB is an engineering company that has developed impressive hydropower expertise in Kristinehamn. This expertise combined with a highly qualified technical team in Kristinehamn and innovative research environment in Norway will create a competitive total supplier of hydropower services in Sweden for planning, production, maintenance and service. We have great faith in our Swedish commitment.”

Since it was set up in 2007, Rainpower has developed proprietary turbine technology at its hydropower laboratory in Trondheim. Through its establishment in Sweden and the expertise this will bring to the group, Rainpower says it will soon be able to develop lower-pressure turbines, more appropriate for the Swedish market.

To drive the Swedish activity Rainpower is appointing around ten key personnel with extensive experience in the Swedish hydropower industry. Casper Vogt-Svendsen will be managing director of the subsidiary company.
