Reuter-Hess dam and reservoir to be expanded

29 April 2005

The expansion of Rueter-Hess is expected to add at least three years to the construction timeline, pushing the projected completion date from 2007 to 2010. Castle Rock Water and Sanitation District wants to secure 12,334km3 of water storage, at US$1676 per square foot, Castle Rock would commit US$5.5M for its water storage.

The Stonegate Village Metro District and Castle Pines North Metro District have also asked to store water at Rueter-Hess, the first Federally approved off-stream reservoir on the Front Range in more than 20 years.

A 1615m long earthen dam will be built 20m higher than planned for US$60M to accommodate a higher water level.
