RusHydro takes first steps to small hydro development in Altay Republic

15 March 2011

The necessary preparations are currently underway at the construction site of the 24MW Chibit small hydro plant. The first stage of surveying is now complete, with the drilling and field studies equipment already onsite. The geodetic, construction, drilling and surveying works of the second stage are now in progress.

The preliminary design specifications and estimates for the project were purchased by ZAO HydroEngineering Siberia (RusHydro Group) from local authorities in the Altay Republic in October 2010.

In July 2010, the government of the Altay Republic and RusHydro signed an agreement to cooperate in the development of small hydropower generation in the region, with the Chibit plant on the Chuya River chosen as the pilot project.
