Sabangan hydro plant attacked in the Philippines

The control room at Hedcor’s 14MW Sabangan hydropower plant has reportedly been bombed by a group of unidentified men, causing power outages in the Mt Province region of the Philippines.

The attack occurred late Tuesday evening, and a police investigation into the bombing is ongoing. No one was hurt in the incident, but the Hedcor said that 90% of the plants equipment was damaged.

In a statement, Chris Faelnar of Hedcor Sabangan Inc, said: "We denounce this attack that resulted to in the curtailment of power supply and the hampering the development in the province, we continue to closely coordinate with the local governments of Bauko, Sabangan and Mountain Province on our next steps to recover from this unfortunate incident."

The company added that it is working to restore the plant as soon as possible.
