Siemens expands in China

24 October 2011

During an initial expansion phase, the new factory in Chengdu will comprise approximately 3000m2. Depending on future market growth, the factory can be expanded to a total of 10,000m2 and a workforce of more than 1000.

The new factory in Chengdu will be designed as an affiliated factory of the Electronics Manufacturing Plant (EWA) in Amberg, where Siemens has already been developing and manufacturing a major part of its controllers for several decades. As in Amberg, the Chengdu plant will also be organized as a "digital factory" where the development and manufacturing departments are completely interlinked.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new factory is scheduled for February 2012.
