Sinohydro closes river for dam build at Xinjiang Kezijiaer, China

25 September 2009

Construction is due to commence shortly on the 61m high asphalt concrete core embankment dam, which will have a crest length of 312m.

The Xinjiang Kezijiaer project is being built as a key part of water control and flood management measures, and is related to protective measures for the South Water Transfer Project.

Work on the scheme started on site in mid-2006 and excavation of the diversion tunnel began just over a year ago. With completion of the bore and acceptance of the tunnel last month, Sinohydro said that work has just been completed to close the river.
