The US$35.38M project, funded by an Asian Development Bank loan, is expected to be up and running in May 2014, helping to ease power shortages in the Sialkot region.

The project is located on the Upper Chenab Canal at Marala dam and will feature four Kaplan turbines. It is being built by Chinese firm Sinotec-SHPE, newswires reported.
