Surbana Jurong Group, parent company of engineering firm SMEC, has acquired Robert Bird Group (RBG), with the deal described as deepening SMEC’s urban development capabilities and extend its geographical resourcing and reach, particularly in south-east Asia, the Middle east and the UK.
Robert Bird Group’s structural, civil and construction engineering expertise will strongly complement SMEC’s focus on urban renewal, industrial and infrastructure markets, SMEC said in a statment. Additional benefits include technically complex civil/structural project challenges; connecting built form solutions for major infrastructure projects and cost effective temporary works solutions for complex projects.
