Studies to investigate feasibility of hydro in Guyana

Guyana and Brazil have agreed to jointly study the hydropower potential of the Upper and Middle Mazaruni areas in Guyana.

A pre-feasibility study is expected to start in early April and will investigate the potential for a 3000MW project in Upper Mazaruni, and a 1500MW project in the Middle Mazaruni areas.

If the projects are given the go ahead, they would be the first operational hydropower projects in the country.
