Susitna dam bill passed by Senate committee

23 March 2011

Under the Senate Bill 42, the Alaska Energy Authority could be given authority to build and operate a 600MW hydroelectric project on the Susitna, referred to as the Watana Dam. The project has long been mooted for development to help meet energy demands in Alaska’a Railbelt.

The Senate panel has now forwarded the bill to the finance committee.
