Sweden joins ADB clean energy fund

The Swedish Government contributed US$4.7M to the Clean Energy Financing Partnership Facility, which seeks to support efforts to boost energy security in Asia. The two other contributors are Norway and Australia.

The fund was launched a year and a half ago and support given to the hydro power sector includes covering the entire US$42M contribution to the Uttaranchal Power Sector Investment Programme, in India.

In China, the Gansu Heihe Rural Hydropower Development Investment Programme received US$28M.

The West Seti hydro power scheme in Nepal is also receiving support with US$90.8M contributed.
