The 4 x 40MW run-of-river project, to be developed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC), will provide power for the West Bengal, helping to reduce peaking power shortage in the state.

The project will involve construction of a 45m high concrete gravity dam in the Darjeeling district, with work expected to be completed within the next 48 months.

Project costs are estimated at US$242M, with 75% equity provided by the Indian government and 25% by NHPC.
