5 March 2008

The plant on the Yangtze river in Hubei province – and the world’s largest hydropower scheme - will have 32 turbines of 700MW capacity. It is already operational and is due for completion by 2011.

Three Gorges has been developed by the China Three Gorges Project Corp (CTGPC).

The Willis Group had a site visit to the project last year as part of its preparatory activities for working on the contract. The firm is an insurance broker dealing with reinsurance and risk management for a number of power utilities internationally and other industry sectors.

Further details of the contract engagement were not immediately available.
