Three workers have been killed in an incident at the 2MW Rongtong hydropower plant in Himachal Pradesh, India.

According to initial media reports, the main inlet valve at the project burst on Sunday, leading to the deaths of the three engineers who were working on the facility's turbine.

Two of the workers were reportedly from the State Electricity Board, with the third employed by a private company.

The Rongtong project is over 20 years old, and has been closed for the past few months while renovation work is carried out.
