Two die in Dulhasti tunnel collapse

Early reports from local media suggest the men were digging the tunnel in the Doda district when it collapsed yesterday, burying them under an avalanche of mud and stones. At least 12 others were injured.

Details on the cause of the collapse have not yet been disclosed.

Dulhasti hydroelectric project, being executed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation, is a run-of-river scheme on the river Chandra, a tributary of the Chenab. The project features a 65m high, 186m long concrete dam, and an underground power house containing three 130 MW units.
