The seventh and eighth 333MW hydropower units have been placed into operation at the Boguchanskaya hydropower plant in Russia, paving the way for full completion of the project in early 2015.

Total installed capacity of all units in operation at the project now amounts to 2667MW, with the ninth unit scheduled to be launched by the end of the year. The project will reach its full 3000MW capacity as soon as its 500kV power output scheme is ready and reservoir is filled to its design level of 208m (currently it stands at around 203.4 m).

The first three hydropower units were put into operation at the project in November 2012, the fourth in January 2013, the fifth in November 2013 and the sixth in December 2013. The plant started commercial supplies to the wholesale electricity and capacity market in December 2012.

The project is a 50/50 JV of RusHydro and UC RUSAL
